New year, same me! Still feeling good about this lineup. Have Vegas, SFMM, and Knotts here in a few weeks. Get a ton of creds I've missed AND get to reride some gems. Should see a shakeup, especially given the ERT we'll be getting. :)

I’ll start off by saying my CC is only 88 and planning some trips to the best parks in Europe this year so this list definitely going to be hugely different in 12 months.
I have a massive bias for the engineering story behind a coaster, as a practising Civil Engineer I geek out on the construction documentaries and love to understand the challenges behind the projects. I also favour high intensity coasters with lots of jerk, changes in direction, forces etc

#1 Der Schwur des Kärnan, Hansa Park
Such a silly coaster, dramatic lifthill sequence, insane first drop up into the non-inverting element sets up for the rest of the twisting layout that doesn’t slow down, pure adrenaline. The way the tower was built and then the coaster was craned inside from above is also pretty nuts.

#2 Nemesis, Alton Towers
Was my favourite since childhood, amazing positive Gs, another great engineering story. Classic.

#3 Taron, Phantasialand
I was determined not to be a ‘Taron Shagger’ as me and the missus label Taron fans, but I couldn’t help loving it after multiple misty night rides in -5’C temperature in December 2022, it’s very fun but without the near misses it wouldn’t be so good.

#4 Oblivion, Alton Towers
So much nostalgia. A ****-off massive hole in the ground, wicked engineering. The drop feels alot stonger than other dive-coasters. Underrated theming, I’m a massive old-school Jungle head combined with the grainy psychological videos in the queueline, it has an awesome 90s vibe, love love love.

#5 Smiler, Alton Towers
Aside from a massive whack on the side of the head during the 2nd-to-last inversion it’s a great coaster, couldn’t stop ‘Smile’-ing throughout, and unusually long for a British ride.

#6 Colossos – Kampf der Giganten, Heide Park
Airtime. Smooth as a baby’s backside. Shame about the helix halfway through.

#7 Black Mamba, Phantasialand
Feels like being ragged around by a massive ‘Black Mamba’ snake, great positive forces and near misses.

#8 Flucht von Novgorod, Hansa Park
Awesome launch, sweet first airtime hill, unfortunate middle section, brilliant dark section.

#9 Stealth, Thorpe Park
Launch.

#10 Kumba, Busch Gardens Tampa
Pure fun, still smooth at it’s great age

Sik spent 168 days in the top 10.
Velocity, Storm Chaser and Dragons Fury are all out of the top 25.
Turbo Coaster at Brighton Pier becomes the first looping coaster to leave my top 100.

These 3 new additions have me with my head in my hands as I begin to doubt my thoughts on my entire top 25. I expect a lot of reshuffling in the coming times, maybe. Thank you, Ride to Happiness. :)

Went to Knotts and SFMM last weekend and had an absolute blast! Didn't miss any coasters I wanted and had ERT on the fun ones! That side, some rides moved back up or established themselves!

I forgot about Tatsu. I only rode it once in 2007.. so I had to be reminded.. and holy **** was I reminded. Best Flyer by a country mile and the best ride at SFMM IMO. WW at SFMM was a hair better then JDC at SFGAdv and X2 was as brilliant as ever but got some rattle in a few seats for sure.

Count now up to 527!

Thought I'd update my top 10 since my recent visit to Gardaland gave me a pleasant surprise, Raptor kicked Furious Baco out, mostly because FB is too rough.
  1. Taron - Phantasialand
  2. F.L.Y. - Phantasialand
  3. Dragon Khan - PortAventura Park
  4. Shambhala - PortAventura Park
  5. Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain: Rebel Mission* - Disneyland Paris
  6. Raptor - Gardaland
  7. Crush's Coaster - Disneyland Paris Walt Disney Studios
  8. Winja's (Fear) - Phantasialand
  9. Colorado Adventure - Phantasialand
  10. Black Mamba - Phantasialand
Considering I started counting and ranking quite recently, it's nice to see this diversity in coasters. I honestly love the family coasters in the list, they were a blast to ride despite not being the most thrilling ones and I rank them higher for that. Haven't ridden many of the bigger coasters in Europe yet, and it's been years since I rode half of these so it's obvious this is gonna change as soon as I reride them.

7 months after my last update, I've visited PortAventura Park again and have rearranged it again— mostly because I finally rerode Shambhala after 10 years and Dragon Khan has become so rough I cannot marathon it anymore. No new credits though. Changes in bold.

Tatsu is fricken awesome. I was dreading going on it because I hate flying coasters generally (the only one I somewhat enjoyed prior to Tatsu was Air/Galactica), but I was surprised in the best way possible. I'll probably never have a flying coaster in my top twenty, and I hate the pretzel loop, but it's a way more solid coaster than I expected.

Agreed. While I LOVE Pretzel loops (came out coughing on Tatsu's.. which made me SO happy).. the speed through the wingovers and barrel rolls were great.

Just wanted to join in on the Tatsu love going on here. A spectacular coaster that doesn't get talked about anywhere near enough. Makes me laugh when people waffle on about FLY being the best flyer in the world, I'm like.. 'Uhm... really??'
Just remember that a lot of us are a bit basic and haven't ridden Flying Dinosaur or Tatsu, so FLY really is the best they've ridden, when comparing it to Air and the Volares 🤮

I think we all know how good Tatsu is, but old rides get forgotten if not spoken about enough. They only really get dragged up in "What's your fave XXXX?" topics.

Might as well shove this in again as it's a new year and things could actually change as I'm booked in with Dr Intamin on a few occasions over the next 10 months.

1 - Steel Vengeance
2 - Zadra
3 - Lightning Rod (V1)
4 - Skyrush
5 - Taron
6 - El Toro
7 - Storm Chaser (KK)
8 - Helix
9 - Outlaw Run
10 - Fury 325

11 - Renegade
12 - The Voyage
13 - Flying Aces
14 - Wildfire (Kolmarden)
15 - Phoenix
16 - Maverick
17 - Formula Rossa
18 - Expedition GeForce
19 - Nemesis (V1)
20 - Hyperion

Rides on Helix in the summer cemented it's place, it's brilliant, but only at the end of the day so it won't be going any higher.
Wildfire also got a re-ride, I think this is tied for my most visited non UK park now (3 times, with PHL and Grona), and once again showed how brilliant it is. Still not done a night ride, so it has more to give imo.

Hyperion is in serious danger, such a shame as the first time I rode it I had some amazing top 10 worthy rides, but when it's bad it's almost unrideable. Aiming to head back again in 2024 so it could make a comeback, or be destined to mid table mediocrity.

Haha I don't put Flying Dinosaur and Tatsu in the same category. I actually felt Tatsu was nice, tame, and flowy with the exception of the pretzel loop, which is my least favourite part of the coaster. Flying Dinosaur is just intense the entire way through and I hated it for that. I loved Air, and it's because I feel like the more flowy and graceful flyers are the ones I prefer, and Tatsu sat nicely in the middle of both intensity and gracefulness.
