Small News From The Theme Park Industry

Also SBF Visa (etc) surely subject to Trump's tariffs - Chance not so much as US manufacturer.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
True enough, it’s a little more complicated though since there’s a bunch more players in the game.

Wisdom Rides was the big American carnival ride hotshot when Chance dipped out but in recent years they’ve been floundering, with sales dropping and current orders all at least a year behind schedule even despite other companies recovering from COVID. Their merger with the Chinese also hasn’t really blossomed either. That leaves a few smaller companies domestically that are picking up the pace, and even them (ie Frederickson, Dalton, Battech) have been seeing success lately by manufacturing 70’s/80’s era attractions like slides and roundups. So yes, ample ground there.

Most of the bigger ride imports meanwhile are coming overseas from Kolmax, Technical Park, KMG, and Lamberink. The thing is that the latter three are in such high demand worldwide right now that waitlists are literally taking up to 2029/30 right now. SBF isn’t too established on the fair circuit rn and their premiere definitely-original Pirate Ship suffered a huge road roll-over accident while being trucked to the buyer this winter, rendering a huge new piece of hardware as unusable for now. They really needed to run it to prove themselves, now they’ve been set back a bit. God’s will or something.

The tariffs are also a development that derailed a few deliveries really recently, which is funny since the fairground industry and trades overwhelmingly supported “El Presidente” coming back into office only for this to happen.

So yeah again there was totally ample ground for Chance to come back.

A stork was reportedly struck and killed by a train on Hals-uber-Kopf at Tripsdrill on April 14th, with news of the incident not breaking until this past week. Tripsdrill has since revised their operational policies to have staff locate and remove nearby stork nests each morning to prevent another incident from happening.

I don't know a lot about storks, but if they're anything like geese, telling one that's guarding eggs/chicks to bugger off seems like a hazardous way to spend your morning.

I guess they're a fair bit more authoritative over there though 😆

Falcon’s Beyond has acquired Oceaneering Entertainment System (OES), a division of Oceaneering International Inc. The transaction includes purchasing OES’s global portfolio of patented technologies, proprietary engineering, and manufacturing processes. Falcon’s has hired key members of OES’ highly experienced team and assumed the lease for a 106,000+ square-foot facility to bolster Falcon’s research, development, testing, and integration services. Wild Train at Parc Saint-Paul was scrapped this week, as seen on this TikTok video: Wild Train removal.

I am not shocked, as the park was taken over by Looping Group and they have a major cleanup job to do there. The Pax Drop Tower was already removed prior to this season and was to be replaced with a 60-meter Funtime SkyFall (Drop Tower), but they ran into unexpected delays, and the new tower will open in 2026.

Goudurix has received new trains:

With this and the new spinner it's a big season for PA!
Well I rode Goudurix with the new trains yesterday and it was absolutely awful. I know it's always been a rough ride but honestly it is significantly worst than I remember it on my last visit in 2017. Once and done. By mid-afternoon the ride was a walk-on because nobody was going back for any re-rides.
Tonnerre 2 Zeus is also rougher than I remember Tonnerre de Zeus being back in '17.
I actually feel quite sad for Parc Asterix because they have heavily invested in new track and trains for their 2 older coasters and it hasn't really improved the ride experience, they are both still very rough.
