IAAPA 2016

I love these! They are concept trains, nobody has bought them. Eagled eyed goons might spot a park owner having an very "interesting and exciting" conversation with the GG chaps in the background...

I think they both look ghastly, the horse one slightly less, but it's quite obvious they've just shoved the horse head on naked wooden trains, bleh.

Nope, I assume that with the B&M OTSRs and the inversions that it'll be full of headbanging. If it's not then it may well be an upgrade in terms of ride-ability.
 
Going back to the Legoland New York thing, it's still on the cards but the announcement was shelved because they still have i's to dot and t's to cross, yadda yadda.
 
ECG reports that Tony Clark from Cedar Point and Walter Bollinger's kids were present at the announcement.
 
Now this is very exciting...

It will feature launches, inversions and different station configurations. Duel station like Mr Freeze, a turntable and a Choice station where riders can choose if they want to do extreme (with spinning) or not-so-extreme (without spinning, basically like a Mack Mega).

Oh yeah, and an order for one has been placed...
 
The launch element is like Sriracha - people try to put it with everything.
 
Now that is cool, being able to swap between spinning and non-spinning trains. I was initially concerned about doing a straight launched spinner. While the novelty is cool, I can't help but feel the concept is a bit forced; a mashup of a bunch of things at once.

Glad to also see the Pulsar-esque launch-with-airtime-hill design. Hope that produces some neat floater airtime.
 
Interesting idea, i'm sure it'll work but i'm just wondering what Mack are thinking with some of their recent installiations.

The Mack is interesting! I endorse that airtime hill location. Looks better than the Skyloop & Sky Rocket.
 
Interesting concept; really like the look of it. The 2in1 idea is ingenious too!

Could Walibi Belgium be a potential buyer? They're getting rid of their Ferris Wheel for a new ride, and there seems to be enough space around that for one of these to squeeze into. And Walibi do have a good working relationship with Mack at the moment...
 
Count me in as another fan of that new Mack concept! There's definitely room for more thrilling spinning coaster layouts - they seem quite an undeveloped ride type on the whole. However, after the airtime hill, the layout seems a bit minimalistic. It's essentially just the same element (immelman/dive loop) repeated four times, just in different directions of course? I'd much rather see a bit more variety, especially since Blue Fire's inline twist looks fantastic with the spinning car. But still, I love the the 2 in 1 idea - that'll make it seriously rerideable.

I wouldn't be objected to it, but I'd consider it highly unlikely, even beyond 2018. Remember Walibi Belgium was the one that just installed Pulsar, a similar concept and with that, also have two other shuttles in Psyke Underground and Cobra. I know a full-circuit shuttle spinning coaster is different, but it would still be the park's fourth coaster to feature a backwards element, and their third to be launched. I could see a Big Dipper fitting in better though!
 
I just arrived in Orlando. I am excited for my first day of IAAPA tomorrow! What exhibits should I check out?

Really like the Mack concept, it looks great fun and one of the best of that new form of shuttle coasters.
 
It's a bit of a slow day for thrill ride and coaster announcements. ECG us working the floor mopping up some of the interesting stuff and arranging interviews and videos.
