And of course it's a spike coaster. Ah well, it still looks like a really neat concept, and I'm sure it'll be a hit for the company!

Now the real question is whether or not this is a travelling coaster.

If this actually goes ahead then that's a fantastic addition to the cruise market.
Currently, a few ships have small fairground-style rides, and Carnival already have their pedal-powered SkyRide not-quite-a-coaster thing, but this is the first true coaster at sea.

It makes sense to build a powered coaster on a ship, because there would be a lot more variables at play in the design process of a gravity powered cred (ship sway etc).

Definitely the most expensive cred out there if you're talking access to get to ride it. Not many creds cost a double hundred dollars just to get access.

I wonder how this coaster will cope with being on a cruise ship. I mean it has to be able to withstand harsh weather and the ship's motion, so this could be interesting.

If they have a time resolution of days or less, it could still work. The list of places it operated would grow really long really fast, though.

You could just list the coaster as being based in wherever the ship is registered at.... All the carnival ships are either registered in the Bahamas or Panama.

I had the feeling this new powered coaster design would be a great fit for areas that need specific control over variables - never thought of cruise ships as an application!

tbf, if you're going on a cruise liner called 'Carnival', I imagine lounging around on a sunbed isn't high up on your priorities!
