LAX, it must have been a week before lockdown. I'd been on a business trip, LA was normal, Knotts Berry* was packed, the office I was visiting was packed...
LAX was a ghost town. We realised maybe a couple of days before we were flying home that this was serious, and that we may end up getting...
No, it's impossible I am afraid. The ECML tunnels are slightly wider, which allowed (a few specially modified) old Eurostar's to run on it, but the MML tunnels are narrower, slightly but enough to make the difference.
Also, the modified trains have been since scrapped.
The NEW Eurostars can't...
So, those old Eurostar trains that used to run through south London will be pushing 40 years old once Universal opens, and the newer Eurostar trains are too wide. That also doesn't mean the old ones will fit on the MML.
None of this solves the capacity issue, or the fact Eurostar trains are...
Surprisingly difficult question, the only ride I can think of that I loved but have only managed one ride on is probably Superman at Parque Warner I guess? Great ride, intolerable ops.
Basically three northbound mainlines out of London are at capacity (the Chiltern out od Marylebone is not), so a scheme to relieve them by moving the non-stop intercity trains on to new tracks where they don't need to share with stopping traffic was devised, this became HS2 (which was always...
So the Marston Vale Line is the last remnant of the old Varsity Line between Oxford and Cambridge. The line no longer exists between Bedford and Cambridge.
Interchange with the WCML is at Bletchley, the next stop south from Milton Keynes. Fun fact, Bletchley Park was chosen for its wartime role...
I think they're a little unfair with that 9m comment, given the local councils have actively nerfed our largest parks for decades. Do these people really think Merlin want to operate short hours and have height, noise and sightline restrictions?
All trains that stop at MK will not call at any Universal station, because MK is on the WCML, Bedford is on the MML. Some EWR trains were planned to head up to MK and reverse, I believe, though I don't see how the alignment at Bletchley would allow it.
To access Universal from MK it will...
After a wonderful weekend at Alton last weekend, Legoland was a nightmare today. I'm not going to complain about queues, it's Easter weekend, what do you want expect? However, 90 minutes to get out of the car park? Unacceptable.
I definitely get this, Space Gun and Space Boost at Energylandia absolutely wiped us out recently to the point where we went on the little car ride afterwards to recover.
I do think people complain too much about roughness, Colossus does need new trains but it's butter smooth compared to Baco, to use the same comparison you used.
For me it peaked when I rode Mandrill last year and the ride was spoiled by another enthusiast on the row behind vocally complaining...
Also, Hobbiton isn't exactly large scale. The Green Dragon works well as the catering outlet at the movie set (I've been, I loved it), so it would work in a park too.
To be honest, I am thoroughly unconvinced that they won't include it. Let's see how successful the new section at Epic Universe is on opening. It's a cash cow that they'd be stupid to ignore.
