A massive fire broke out at Karl’s Erlebnis-Dorf Elstal on Tuesday morning. The fire started inside a workshop and eventually led to a slide, a sales stand, and a barnyard shed all being destroyed by the flames (the animals inside the shed were fortunately rescued). Nine people had to be treated at a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation. It took all day to put out the flames, but since the main shop building and most of the other attractions were spared, the park still opened on Wednesday.

Here's an overview of the damage after the fire was put out. Sounds like everything within that area will have to be demolished.

What a shame, it truly is devastating when something like this happens at your venue. So happy to hear that nobody, and no animal, was seriously injured during the fire.

That being said, the silver lining to the cloud is that this park will go above and beyond to redevelop that area into something beautiful and spectacular.

The fact that an American park like Santa's Village is already on the docket for new-gen Vekoma just goes to show what a powerhouse of a company they are and how quickly they've managed to become entrenched in the North American market. Discounting the Disney bubble, since Dragonflier in 2019 (what I regard as the kickoff) we've seen two brand new coasters open in the US and no less than six set to open through to 2024 in America alone (plus at least four in Mexico). The US is not a market than can sustain itself with RMC/S&S/Premier/Zamperla and the occasional B&M anymore, of course a company like Vekoma would reenter so quickly.

They've also had one of the best salesman in the industry on their side for a few years, which has helped!

On the subject of Great Adventure, ElToroRyan posted an update video on El Toro. Apparently as of today no operational permit's been granted yet, but the repairs appear to be complete and the rumor is it *could* re-open as soon as this week, provided the state approves it in time.

The B train has begun testing and the Kia advertisement that used to don it appears to have been removed. There’s been a lot of enhancements done to the structure around the areas that allegedly caused the pothole last year as well.
