Rollercoasters getting older and claustrophobia

Now this could be a boring topic or could be something that people may be able to relate to.

I have been an “enthusiast” since watching Thorpe build Colossus then Inferno which peaked my interest in coasters and have loved them ever since, travelling all over the world to ride them.

At the ripe old age of 35 I seem to have for some reason generated a new found fear of claustrophobia/entrapment on one of my favourite past times.

It all started after getting stuck on Galactica break run for about 20 odd minutes last year and knowing I couldn’t get off and the vest felt extremely tight and was on the brink of a panic attack. Since then flyers are now a no go.

I know it’s in my head but I can’t switch it off to the point where i’m panicking as soon as I pull my restraint down knowing I cannot get out this seat now, even though I really want to ride the coaster i’ve just sat down into.

Am I going crazy or just old now and has anyone else experienced this??

I have a coaster friend who won't do flyers if they're running more than one train because having their legs restrained gives them anxiety. If the ride is running they're fine but sitting on the final block waiting to get into the station makes them loose it. So I don't think it's necessarily an odd issue/fear

Any B&M coaster with vest restraints feels restrictive, especially if they tighten during the ride. I find the flyers to be a bit more comfortable than most of the others, but lying face down against those restraints for a long period of time feels uncomfortable after a few minutes of sitting on the brakes.
