So, Vadge was approaching the big 3 - 0 so we wanted to go somewhere to celebrate. We settled on Gibraltar as neither of us had been, and it is kind of a country cred.

I was nice and drove to spiteful Gatwick, even though it's miles from here. Due to sleasyJet now doing allocated seating, we had to sit separately as we hadn't booked together. Spite!
Standard wing photo:
We were actually staying just over the border in Spain (La Linea) because there are only about 5 hotels in Gibraltar and they are quite expensive. It was still just a short walk from the airport...
La Linea, AKA 'Tijuana' or 'TJ' was an absolute dump.
We were pretty tired so just went for a bit of a potter on the first day. We had to take our passports with us every time we went back into Gibraltar as you have to go through immigration and customs on the way in and out.
The high street was very British with the likes of M&S, BHS, Natwest, Dorothy Perkins, even building societies like Norwich & Peterborough etc. It's faaaaab.
We had a boozy lunch and took some selfies
The traffic lights, so British <3
The airport is unique because it has a level crossing with the only road in and out of Gibz... so traffic has to stop for planes to land and taxi. This is us mincing across the runway on the way back to the hotel:
This was my fave
The weather forecast was much better for the second day, so we decided to go up to the top of the rock.
This was on the way to the cable car station (there is no way you would catch us walking up there!):
There it is
It was actually pretty ghetto...
There wasn't as much up there as we thought, but the view was amazing.
Such a fab photo of Vadge
The monkeys were DISGUSTING.
We were actually done by lunchtime so decided to find a bar and sit outside for the afternoon. On the way we went past a sign and the main square...
By 1pm we had parked our bums here and didn't stagger out until about 6. One side of my face is so tanned!
Oh, opposite the bar was this cruise ship. It has been permanently moored up and is being turned into a posh hotel.
The marina was generally really nice, well, compared to the hole over the border in Mexico, anyway:
On the way back we were stopped by a plane landing. I am glad I filmed it because I can't remember it at all.

We woke up to slight hangovers and crappy weather but it was our last day, so we forced ourselves to go and do something. We walked 'right to the end of Gibraltar', which was actually about 4 miles from the hotel.
There was a mosque:
A gun:
... and Morocco:
It was so **** windy we decided to get a bus back. On the way we'd walked past the botanic gardens which looked quite fab, so we popped in on the way back into town.
Such an amazing centerpiece
By this point it had started raining so we went for a few of these
Then did a bit of shopping, it was sooooo cheap.
Monkeys were stalking us on the way...
<3
The next day we got up, walked 10 minutes to the airport, checked in straight away, did a bit of duty free shopping, then got told our flight had been diverted to Malaga due to bad weather and had to go on a 2 hour coach ride </////////3. It was pure spite, but easyJet were really good and gave us snacks, lunch and a free drink when we finally got on the plane in Malaga. Got home about 4 hours late, but luckily the flight was fairly early (originally) so we still got home at a decent time.
Thanks for reading, even though it was quite a rushed and badly written TR
