Cedar Point Questions

Jools

Giga Poster
Hey guys, it is looking very likely that me, Mandy and my dad are going to fly off to Cleveland this year to visit one of the worlds best theme parks; 'Cedar Point', and we all have a few questions, considering Mandy only visited for a couple of days and couldn't manage everything.

1. How long are the queues in late May/Earl June?
2. Why does the park open so late (May)?
3. What are the top 5 rides in the park?
4. Is there a pass you can get hold of so you can visit the park for a week or 2 like Disney has?
5. If so how much?
6. If not, how much would it cost to visit for 4 days?

We'd be very greatful if you could answer these questions, thanks. :)

1. What lines? :)
2. Well, here in Northern Ohio, we have this thing called 'weather,' which remains crap until.. well about May.
3. Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, Magnum XL-200. Of course, everyone varies on those thoughts.
4. Yeah, they call that a season pass. ;)
5. Cedar Point SP's run around $100.
6. Well, anyone with half a brain would be buying a season pass if they visit for more than two days.. so.. just do that.

Any other questions, please refer to the following resource: http://www.cedarpoint.com/index.cfm

Thanks Snoo, I'm so looking forward to this, and so glad there's hardly any queues at that time :--D

^Unless it rains, or even drizzles...

Yeah, hope for not even a spit of rain, otherwise the rides will be closing quicker than Usain Bolt... ;)

Their rain policy is a bit crap.. but if you are there for more then 3 days.. you are guaranteed at LEAST one beautiful cloudless day. Hell, in the last 4 years of the CP-Lives, we haven't had rain last longer then an hour one time. Plus you are going in May? It should be plenty warm with beautiful days to be had.

But, just as a side note, I have ridden almost every ride at Cedar Point in the rain at some point. In fact, I rode Maverick 3 times in a row on two separate occasions in pouring rain. So don't hate too bad. ;)

^Well you were lucky, as was I when I went last year, alas, my Dad got denied a ride on Blue Streak after me because it started drizzling, being British, it was not a good thing :p

Understandable. Being in a place where we have great weather from May-September, I wouldn't know about that. ;)

Cedar Point has been all about safety and comfort.. and while the average enthusiast isn't bothered by rain, most of the GP isn't a huge fan.

Stick with what Snoo said, the season pass is $112 this year and will pay off within three visits.

If you're visiting another Cedar Fair park this year, buy the Platinum Pass. This grants you entrance to all Cedar Fair parks AND free parking to all parks (it is $10 parking for Cedar Point).

And yes, Cedar Point has a strict weather policy. Look at the 2007 Magnum brake failure incident for reasons on why.

I'm sure if the weather is goo dlike you mention, I sohouldn't worry too much.

But all of us on an annual pass is a hell of a lot of money, I only wish there was another way.

Considering season passes are the cheapest option...that is the way.

Regular tickets are $46.

Fair enough, but one day they should definatly do a weeks/2 weeks pass!
Well the season pass is essentially a three day pass... only you get to go as many times as you want!

Jools.. are you just that inept? A season pass IS a two/three/two month pass. Come on.

I went to Cedar Point last year in the middle of June (I actually just recently found out that I missed the CF Live by a couple days!) I planned on spending three days at the park and was still worried about not having enough time to get everything in...turns out I got every credit, plus a couple flats, AND re-rides in 1.5 days (so I spent the extra day at Kennywood :P).

So I'm not sure if buying a season pass and expecting to visit for a lot of days is smart. If you're going with your family, I'm assuming you are planning on staying at CP Hotel, which offers some deals (I think it's something like two admission tickets, sunset tickets and early entry; visit the website for more information). That way you can save some money but not getting a season pass and you will have enough time at the park, plus you get the experience of staying on Cedar Point (if you choose Breakers as your hotel).

About the rain, I guess I just got really lucky when I visited. It was supposed to rain on one of the days but it ended up just sprinkling for a bit in the morning in which they still ran rides.

^ You can purchase discount tickets through Breakers Express and Castaway Bay as well, Cedar Point's other two properties.

CreditCrazy is right, a week is ridiculously long to be at Cedar Point. Even in Cedar Point's busiest days, you would be able to get the park done within 2-3 days. Are you really going to be in Sandusky for a week?
