It was called the Super Tornado, I believe a Senyo built flat ride.
Here's a shot of it operating at the Asian Pacific Expo in Fukuoka in 1989 and you can see some of the cars partway up the arms.
The Meisho built "Mountain Coaster" doesnt appear to have come from anywhere else either. Although there was an expo with a coaster the year before that I've not dug up any pictures of yet so who knows.

This is a (Semi) terrain coaster called Jet Shooter that was at Tokyo's Yomiuriland known now for the Togo coaster Bandit.
The ride had the lift hill at the end which itself is unusual.

What makes this sad is that if a UK park built a ride like this they'd just build the first half up until the 3rd launch and be done with it. None of the going the extra mile.
And if they did it would still be one of the best if not the best family coaster in the country
