One word for Boulder Dash? Epic. This coaster is worth a visit to Lake Compounce in itself. Those who haven't ridden it cannot possibly understand how it is so good, those that have ridden it... well... lets just say it changes them!
Boulder Dash is epic. That is the only word that can really get close to describing how good this coaster is. It’s not much to look at, but it packs one hell of a punch.
When it opened in 2000 it jumped straight to 5th place on Mitch Hawker’s Wooden Poll, and has never dropped out of the top ten, showing that enthusiasts from around the world all agree that Boulder Dash is an extremely good coaster.
Boulder Dash is built on the side of a very steep, very rocky (hence the ‘boulder dash’) hillside. The track rarely reaches more than 30ft above the rock, but it’s the ground hugging nature of this terrain coaster that makes it so wild.
After the lift hill the coaster speeds down a first drop and around a massive ground hugging turn before flying back over the station. Then it’s right up into the hillside for some crazy twists, turns and hops around the scattered boulders. The crazy pops of airtime, the seemingly random corners and the fantastic setting make this coaster truly amazing.
Finding the right words to describe what Boulder Dash is like, but every Coaster Force member (or enthusiast worldwide), who has ridden it simply cannot wait to get back to it. If it was good during the day, it’s even better at night. Boulder Dash is everything a roller coaster should be. It’s out of control, forceful, fast, fun and awesome. Everyone needs to ride it!
