Steel Hawg was the first El Loco model that S&S Power build and it features a 111° first drop. The El Loco models are renowned for their bizarre elements and crazy inversions. Steel Hawg is no exception.
Once you’re strapped into the seats, with rather open feeling restraints, the trains shoot up the lift hill and then plummet over the extremely steep drop. Then it’s a collection of sharp turns, some of which are banked in the ‘wrong’ direction, slow speed inversions and fast speed changes. Steel Hawg features some good hang-time on the inversions where the riders feel like they’re being held upside down for ages.
Steel Hawg is a good ride, although isn’t really the most thrilling ride. It’s fun, not as intense or scary as it looks and seems to be popular with families, even if it doesn’t really tick all the boxes for hard-core enthusiasts.
