Built on the site of the former Windsor Safari Park, Legoland opened up in 1996 following the success of the Danish Legoland. Subsequent Legolands opened in the USA and Germany. Like most theme parks, the park is split into differently themed areas with a plethora of superb Lego models and attractions mainly aimed at children between the age of 8 and 15. There's enough for adults to do although bare in mind it's aimed at children so don't expect the sort of thrills you might find 10 miles away... The park is built on a hill, with the exit/entrance being at the top. Thankfully there is a train that can transport the lazy and those with pushchairs to the top. |

Lego is everywhere. EVERYWHERE. And you can play with it. Duplo, Technics and Basic, it's all here! And it's all free to play with. There are obviously tonnes of shops with plenty of Lego merchandise, so expect to fork out a bit extra if you take the kids along.
Food at the park is varied with food ranging from burgers to baguettes to hot dogs to salads. Healthy or fatty, you'll find it at Legoland. There's no branded name restaurants so it's all in-house. Food is above-average in price.
Legoland is definitely worth a day out. There's very few parks in the UK that offer such a variation of rides and excellent theming, although it is aimed at children and families so don't expect a quiet day or short queues during peak season! The fireworks in October are, quite frankly, amazing and worth the entrance fee alone.
One word of warning - QUEUES! On weekends and school holidays; and particularly special events the queue times rocket. You'll find long queues for even the most basic of rides. So be well prepared with queue busting ideas for the little ones and don't expect to get around the entire park in a single day.
The Hill Train should help take some of the chore from getting from the top of the park.
