The park's atmosphere is rather strange. It feels like a fairground in trouble in certain areas, run down and at the end of its life. You almost feel sorry for the place. Even though there are plenty of guests there, the park feels as though its struggling. However, the park is very good value for money. It is free entry, so people who don't want to ride anything can still go and hang around. There is also a large free playground in the park. Food is priced fairly, and drinks are around £1 each. They also have the option of tokens, if you just want to ride one or two things. Wristbands are (at time of writing, July 2006) £10 for adults and £15 for children. This again is a good idea because most of the time the children will be the ones who are riding everything, and the parents won't be, as its more of a childrens park. The staff also make an effort (their main coaster was running 3 trains all day, even with no queues) and, even when the park is busy, waiting times are low. The park opened in 1913. |
