Apocalypse is a 177ft drop tower built by Intamin and it opened in 2000. It has five different rows, each being able to accommodate four guests. The reason we don’t say ‘seat’ four riders each is because Apocalypse has three different ride types.
There are two sit down carriages, two stand-up carriages and one stand-up floorless carriage. The riders reach speeds of 50mph and experience a 4g deceleration at the bottom of the tower. An intimidating wait at the top, coupled with the carriages tilting outwards to 15° at the top, make Apocalypse a terrifying ride, even for hardened thrill seekers!
In 2008 Apocalypse received a Coaster Force Airtime Award for ‘Best Thrill Ride In Europe’, as voted for by the members.
