Nemesis is Alton Towers' iconic attraction and is one of the UK's top rollercoasters. Nemesis has something
about it that can't actually be explained or described in words, but can only be understood by riding it. This feeling or experience that Nemesis gives, is probably best known as as the 'X-Factor.'

Nemesis pushes the boundaries for any theme park rollercoaster as it reaches every limit possible for any one human to endure. With it's cramped turns and tight inversions, Nemesis exaggerates the feeling of fear while giving an exciting and heart stopping experience. Nemesis is one of the rides that brought the term 'White Knuckle' into the industry when it took the world by storm in March 1994. It brought a whole new depth to the industry and its thrilling layout combined with its excellent theming inspired design companies to push the boundaries of future coasters. The effects of Nemesis's design can still be seen today, in rides like Black Mamba and Hydra: The Revenge, both of which utilise their terrain and surroundings to create an unparalleled experience.

When they were building Nemesis, a huge tent was erected over the site and the story began! During routine excavation works, workers uncovered a dormant alien creature which rose up and vented it's fury! Using loads of steel, the workers bolted down the beast in order to tame it. Your ride is based around the escape of the monster.

Nemesis was Europe's first inverted coaster and took 440 tonnes of steel and 7,542 bolts to construct. The ride and theming was designed by Tussaud's Imagineer John Wardley and some say it's his best work to date. The rust effects on the track were actually added by Tussaud Studios to give the ride a more scary feel.

Nemesis: A legend, A masterpiece.

v EPIC FAIL! xD The track is 'dirty' and 'rusty' to give it a more scary look.

right... now nemesis was really good, and the ride overall was fun, but they seriously need to clear her up a bit! The
tracks are grimy and rusty, and the bone station is nearly brown now, so they could bring out the silver paint on a
winter break. I was pretty sure it was Tom Baker reading the story... was it?

Thanks, Alexdude! I also noticed that Pagey has no posts on the forums. I bet he just signed up so he can troll the
comments to offend UK members.

the only reason why people think USA rides are better than UK rides is because they cant be the same. The UK have very
strict planning laws, where as the USA dosent. The UK have more twisted, shorter , steaper roller coasters and more
themed where as America has long sweaping drops and longer rides

One of my favourite coasters and definitely my favourite at Alton. It's a brilliant ride.

the funny thing is, UK or USA does not make the rides, most of them are built by Switzerland. B&M and Intamin are both
from that country, the location of the rides is meaningless in terms of what country builds best rides, as it is clearly
Switzerland.

"the uk isnt really in the competition of the best rides its so crap. USA all the way for coasters" Pagey, It's about
time you stopped trolling, caught the train back to Spamalot, and stayed there to rot.

Ah, what a classic this is! Definitely one of Alton Towers' Iconic Rides. I went on it Three times in a row last time I
went! Also, I'm really starting to hate pagey@magicmountain. I mean, claiming Nemesis is crap compared to
All-American Coasters? What the Hell is Wrong with Him?!

it has an 104ft drop though , to pagey@magicmountain , aslo , it is , because it has constant g force , also , whats
your problem , england , starts with a new coaster design and america then makes it bigger , with new elements , because
they have places in the middle of no where , with no planning regs , also , its not 60 ft , its 70ft

when i first saw nemesis i was like "thats huge compared to the pictures!" i could hear the track rumbling and the noise
of the music fumbling in the background. It was a shame i didnt go on it but the queue line was abit long and im a
first-timer thrillseeker!!! I'm gonna start off with the rides like air and rita and if i like them then i might check
out nemesis and oblivion. My brother seemed to like obliion but he'll go on anything...

Best ride at AT! went last sunday and blew me away! Went front row everytime and was just amazing. The scenery is
awesome and the que line gives a full view of nemesis so first timers get very nervous. All in all it was brilliant ,
wasn't scary at all , infact if anything it was just really good fun. I love the speed of it and great footchoppers.
Little bit rough on the last corkscrew , hurt my ear but other than that the inversions are butter smooth , and my
favourite elements were the first helix , zero g roll and the loop! Awesome ride , best ride at alton by far! 10/10

Amazin ride, so what if the parks got 60ft height limit, this coaster proves it dont need the height to be world class,
such an incredible lengthy coaster twisted and moudled within itself into a small quarry, it's breathtaking to see let
alone ride.

Stunning. How they built the best B&M invert in this tiny space is beong mortal understanding. An amazing achievement,
an amazing ride. Constant 4G from start to finish, almost as fast as Rita is the right conditions and a sound envied
by Aston Martin.

pagey@magicmountain have you even been on nemesis? doesn't seem like it as I have NEVER met anyone who has been on it
and not liked it. Also why don't you stop bumming off the USA long enough to get off your arse and go on the good rides
the UK has to offer!

I wasn't sure about all the hype surrounding this ride. It looks like just another B&M inverter. But it is indeed an
amazing, forceful ride. And smooth, especially for it's age. Absolutely terrific!

This is one hell of a ride - Still just as smooth, intense and exciting as it was the day it opened in 1994. Difficult
to fault. My only personal problem with it is the intensity really takes it toll on me after multiple repeat rides,
despite I still find myself going back for more!

What is it now, 15 years old? And it still gives you that thrill. It is unmatched.

Everything about this ride is a revelation: The Ravine, THAT music, the roar, the inverts.. it all comes together to
make an astonishingly near perfect coaster. As intense as they get- yet its as smooth as a rolls royce. Normally i say
each to their own opinion, but personally i think if you dont like Nemesis then you dont like roller-coasters full
stop!! 10/10

lol yea at least alton towers digs bloody deep holes insted of sittin on thier arses moaning about the hight limits!
also, with the ride being closer to ground, nemesis flys past rocks whick makes the themeing and experience 10 times
better.

it is a blessing that alton has the hight limit... it just proves that with such strict conditions, andthing can be
done. without the height limit, oblivion or nemesis probably wouldnt exsist. and most people are proud to live in the
same country as these rides...
