Six Flags Over Georgia held a Coasterthon contest to kick off its 43rd season, having participants ride the Great American Scream Machine all day Saturday and all day Sunday.
After having ridden 152 times, CoasterForce's Allison Feldman won the contest, having her name drawn at random from the four remaining contestants who survived the enduring weekend. "It was mostly just boring after a while," says Allison. "The roughness wasn't too bad once I got used to it."
Allison has won an all-expenses paid trip for two to any Six Flags park in the U.S. of her choosing and a $250 gift card to Racetrac Gas Stations. Allison plans to visit Six Flags Magic Mountain later this summer.
Congratulations Allison!

It's a busy day for China. Hot on the heels of their newly announced 4D coaster, we have this...
GCI (Great Coasters International) have announced their biggest project yet at Knight Valley, Shenzen, China.
The wooden coaster features a triple-down first drop and is the largest CGI coaster project to date. The stats?

Top Speed: 61.2
Length: 4,817
Featuring two Millennium Flyer trains
"Great Coasters is proud to bring China its tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster! Built on the side of a large mountain, this new ride features an exciting triple-down first drop, station fly-through, station fly-by, and 80° of banking amidst the through-the-trees twisting layout. We are proud to partner with OCT on our biggest creation to date!"

Two quick updates from Cedar Fair Entertainment Company.
Kings Island can breath a sigh of relief as a proposed tax on park admission and parking was rejected by the local Mason City Council. The tax would have resulted in an additional $3 charged per $100 in admissions and $2 per season-long parking pass. The proposed tax would have also applied to other local tourist venues, including The Beach Waterpark.
Cedar Fair stock holders have been a buzz with the announcement of Cedar Fair's $2.4 billion sale to Apollo Global Management, arguing that the $11.50 per stock buyout is too low. Now Texas investment banker Geoffrey Raynor, owner of 17 percent of Cedar Fair stock, has announced that he will be voting down the Cedar Fair sale. Mr. Raynor holds the largest portion of stock for a single voter, giving enough votes to reject the deal and call for a new sale in which stockholders will receive more money per share.

The last chapter of Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom might have been told.
