Intamin have been an innovative and popular choice for theme park rides since the late 1970's.

Their first coaster was built at Cedar Point, OH, USA, in 1979 - Jr. Gemini. Intamin also developed the world's first river rapids ride, which was Thunder River at the now defunct Six Flags Astro World.

The last few speed and height record breaking coasters have been built by Intamin, mainly thanks to their innovative hydraulic launch system, which allows coasters to be launched at very high speeds (and thus reach very tall heights).

To date, Intamin have approximately 90 roller coasters throughout the world, and are very versatile when it comes to different ride types. Here's some of them:

STEEL SIT DOWN

The train sits above the track.

GIGA COASTER

A steel beauty that is over 300ft high!

TWISTED IMPULSE COASTER

A coaster featuring two vertical drops, one twisted, one 'freefall'.

ACCELERATOR

Commonly known as a 'Rocket' coaster. Uses an hydraulic launch system to propel the train from the station or launch track.

INDOOR/FAMILY COASTER

A family coaster under complete cover.

MEGA SPLASH

A near-vertical drop into a pool of water that creates a huge splash! You will get wet!

WOODEN COASTERS

A wooden coaster, utilizing Intamin's revolutionary "Plug 'N' Play" wooden track prefabrication system.

STAND-UP COASTER

An old style Intamin coaster.  The last one was built in 1994.

Aside from roller coasters, Intamin also produce drop towers, ferris wheels, simulators, observation towers, river rapid rides and mass transit systems, such as monorails!

Unfortunately, following three deaths on Intamin rides since 2003 (due to rider error, not mechanical problems), Intamin now plump for OTSRs instead of lap bars on most of their new coasters.

Intamin track is recognizable by it's 'triangular' or 'box' shaped track. If you look carefully at the following images, you'll see that the track either contains two, three or four rails; each one is used depending on the stress on the track caused by the train. Less strain, two rails. More strain, 3 rails.  Most strain, 4 rails.
