This is great, and strangly comfortable, i went on it when i was 12 and was scared my balls would end up somewere near my stochmach but they didnt! THe first drop, loops and the zero g roll are amazing. But the rest of the ride is a bit of a waste of track, i mean like who wants to go flat for 100m its not that fun should of been a barrel roll then another hill with diving loops and underground sections but the least few turns are really dull. However this wasnt a huge issue seeing that i enjoyed the standing up factor so much. Also sitting....i mean standing next to a muscular grown man who was absolutly terrorfied and on the on-ride phot he was almost in tears! Thats made my day. XD

It's dull, but the zero-g is brilliant and it's actually eerily comfortable...

A brilliant ride. The few rough spots are very mild/barely noticable. The first drop is great, the loop is good, the two corkscrews are suprisingly awesome but the zero g roll is just WOW. INCREDIBLE.
It's definitely one of my favourite coasters. Way better than I expected and very under-rated in my opinion.

When I go on this I stand on the metal casing in the centre of the footwell until they lock the harness, then your not touching the floor when you go round. Beware! a jock strap is recommended!

the best coaster in the park brings a different sensation standing up, by no means one of the best coasters around but certainly holds its own.

liked it , scared me a lot lol just the fact that you are standing , bars are incredibly loose and every inversion makes you feel like you are falling lol , i actually was scared on shockwave but was amazing all the same. It gets run down but i liked it , front hurt a lot but the back was very good !

yh , the ride i think anyway , diserves a high 9 but the line is really hot , i went on the 2nd of july 2009 and , it was 29 degrees out side and at the top was 35 , and grafiti everyhere in the lind , also theres a sign saying you will be fined , but i dont think anyone saw that! lol
but , the last 2 times i went on ,i went on 3 times , half way up the loop , theres a big jolt that didnt hurt much but was enoying , also , i think they need a new station and train or something , felt a bit unsafe tbh , but loved it anyway !

9/10. Simply for that zero-g roll in the back row. Insane inversion.
I do however think that the queueline and station are absolutely dreadful. Today it was 32 degrees, and the queueline had no air-conditioning, I could hardly breathe. A serious health hazard. Also the queueline is covered in graffiti and is an absolute mess. The station is also a mess, loos really scruffy and old-fashioned as does the queline.

Went on it again today, looks great, great B&M style roar, not rough at all in my opinion, good inversions, great first drop, high throughput, high reliability and it looks great!
I just hope that they don't remove it in 2010, as I feel that it still has many seasons left in it, and in my opinion, is the main attraction for Drayton Manor.

Just to put everybody all right.
At the beginning, Intamin often worked in association with Giovanola(Monthey). In this time, M.Bolliger and M.Mabillard worked for Giovanola before putting itself in their account. They were largely the designers of the "Stand-up" and they kept the rights.
After their departure, Giovanola and Intamin continued to make it until the bankruptcy of Giovanola(Regrettably).
Then Intamin developed another type of rail to avoid the confusions with B&M.
Here is my opinion on this coaster:
I liked it because it's one of last ones coasters of Giovanola.
It is a little bit short and a little of theme is missing. But it gives good sensations.
Sorry for my faults of vocabulary and grammar.

That's because Mr Bolliger and Mallibard use to work for Intamin and designed the stand-up coaster

Warning: Be careful when you are only just above the height limit, on every loop my shoulders hit the top of the restrants, but you can resolve this by holding tightly and pushing yourself down when a loop is approaching =)

V I actually agree - although it isn't the best rollercoaster we have; it's not too bad at the front.

When you ride on the front it has to be one of the best rides in britain.

i think it is a good ride. i mean i love the standing aspect but the last bit is such a boring layout. i love the fact its standing up -- i think its one of the best rides in the park

Luke; even if it's the only stand-up to contain a zero-g (pretty damn good one at that), it doesn't effect how dull the layout is. Drop, loop, twist, random straight, corkscrews. I don't know a person who can't make a better layout.

after riding this today i think that this is one of my best rides. i absolutly lved it (because i had front row). i was in a nice comfy position as i took time to adjust to my height. My favourite Zero-G i have ridden. the down side to this ride is the theming, i think a new paint job would be great

The experience of standing up was ruined by the roughness of it.

Great ride, although I wasn't told to stand up to adjust the height.... Hence I was in a crouched position throughout the ride.

I fail to see how this is 'rough an dull'? I went on it earlier today, fort he first time in 2 years and It really isn't as rough as a lot of UK coasters, and infact, the coasterforce guide says it is the only stand-up to feature a zero-g, and then you say it's dull? The drop, loop and zero-g are fantastic, it's only the last third that is boring.

It did at first, but I looked on youtube before I saw this page and it has 2 corkscrews right after each other instead of a turnaround. I'm surprised that Intamin did that, but I'm not surprised it wasn't made by B&M. Looks fun, though.

Only went on once. Like G-force, fun but not too thrilling.WARNING. Make sure you are in a comfortable position with your feet flat on the floor before they lock the restraint in place. If not it’s very unpleasant, trust me, I shifted a little one the ride and the bike seat bit dug up hard into my groin. Testicular discomfort does not make a ride fun in any way.

Drayton Manor won't get much selling Shockwave, and aren't a very rich business compared to the likes of tussauds etc. I personally think its great! Nemesis is dating too (in fact both Shockwave and Nemmie are the same age).. But that isn't affecting peoples views of it. Maybe it's because Shockwave hasn't been looked after as well as Nemmie?
