World's first "Psychoaster" at Alton Towers
Submitted By: furie
Published: December 11th 2009

The brains behind this latest project are in the head of John Wardley - creative expert behind Nemesis, Oblivion and air (three other "secret weapons"). Alton have also employed other "Thrill Consultants" to produce a roller coaster which contains a new psychological element never seen before in the coaster world.

The ride -  Th13teen - is build on the site of the Corkscrew ride which was dismantled late in 2008. Built by Swiss coaster manufacturer Intamin, the finer details of the coaster are still unknown. On the surface, the track is an Intamin "Family Coaster" - but it seems that this is simply the fun mechanism to get to the real guts of the ride - a hidden element inside a newly constructed building.

While everyone is still in the dark about this, there are claims that maybe the ride will require an age limit (16-55) and visitors will be limited to one ride per day due to its extreme nature.

Looking through all the guff though, there looks to be a pretty standard coaster racing through the new "Dark Forest" area; which then enters an area full of shocks, thrills and surprises - whatever they may be.

Follow the ride construction over at the official site (and book for an exclusive weekend) here:
