Kings Island New Coaster for 2009 - Dive Machine?
Submitted By: Hyde244
Published: May 17th 2008

There's no hiding it.

Kings Island is getting something big for 2009.

With definite roller coaster construction taking place, coaster fan sites have been buzzing with what they believe the coaster to be.

Recently, construction has begun on what appears to be a "Splash Down" water feature.

This has become a signature feature for recent B&M Dive Machines Sheikra and Griffon, acting a natural braking system as well as just looking really cool.

Given this recent construction, and the fact that Dive Machine track has been spotted being produced for a yet to be named coaster (Click Here For Pictures!), naturally, many enthusiasts are insisting Kings Island is due a Dive Machine considering this Splash Down section, but look again.

Dive Machine track is the largest track produced by B&M, considering Dive Machine trains are expanded in wide rows which require the strength and support of larger track.

Given this larger track, the trough in which the track is placed for the Splash Down is rather large.

Though there is no official way of telling, the trough for Kings Island seems less wide than this one seen here during the construction of Sheikra.

This would lead one to ask, is it 100% guaranteed this coaster is meant to be a Dive Machine?

To shed more light on the subject, CF's own Gazza looked back to B&M's patent for the Splash Down area, and made a startingly discovery.

The Splash Down feature was originally designed for a Hyper Coaster.

This picture has been taken the original photo concept submitted with the patent, showing that it is possible for this Splash Down feature to be not for a Dive Machine, but a Hyper Coaster.

So could this be a clue to what Kings Island is building?

Is that mysterious Dive Machine track meant for the park?

Could B&M be building a Splash Down according to the original designs?

Only time will tell.

What do you think about Kings Island's construction?

I had no idea it was originally designed for a Hyper Coaster, Maybe will get lucky and B&M will pull something out of their sleeves
