Kennywood share holders are withholding though votes needed to make the park's sale to Parques Reunidos (owner of Parque Warner Madrid, Bobbejaanland, TusenFryd) official.

The sale would include Kennywood Entertainment's three other parks: Sandcastle Waterpark, Idlewild, and Lake Compounce.

"I am very much opposed to the sale. It's just kind of getting rammed down people's throats," said Kay Matthews, a Kennywood shareholder whose grandfather, Andrew McSwigan, co-founded the park more than 100 years ago.

Kennywood Entertainments is currently owned by 76 descendents of the two founding families of Kennywood, who's votes are needed to put the sale to Parques Reunidos official.

Rather than a simple 50 percent vote, a more-than-majority vote is needed, somewhere around 66 percent-75 percent of the vote.

"I'd rather it continue in the family," said Jean McCague, whose father was Kennywood's president for nearly 40 years, until 1963. "Kennywood has been in our family for so many years that I'm against (the sale)."
