Girl Maimed at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom

In what is probably one of the most recent horrific theme park related injuries, a 13 year girl has lost both her feet after a cable snapped.

The girl was riding Superman Tower of Power at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, Louisville, KY, USA, when the accident occurred.

The drop tower ride winches the riders to the top of a 177ft tower before dropping them down at 54mph. In this instance, the cable snapped on the decent meaning it could not stop and it hit the floor, destroying the girls feet below her ankles.

Six Flags have closed all rides of this type until a full investigate has taken place.

That's so horrifying!! But I thought there were magnetic brakes which are never deactivated so that this couldn't happen even if a cable did snap... :S
That poor girl though... she has to live all her life with that. The force of the impact couldn't have been good for other riders either...

This is horrible! I could not even imagine this happening. For this to happen to such a young girl,mit's a shame.

I fink there shud be a safety system fing like on roller coasters so if the chain breaks the car or wateva dosnt come plummeting down, but i hope she finks wat happens 1ns is less likely 2 happen twice on the same person!

Holy ****. I know accidents at Themeparks that are this serious are extremely rare, but it makes you think about why were such huge enthusiasts, when we know that when you board a ride there's always going to a risk...

Hope she recovers fully. 13, such a young age for a tragedy like this one.

I don't understand how it could happen. These cables are supposed to be able to withstand four times as much force as the ride lets out. I feel very sorry for the girl I hope she's alright.
