Hey all, I have just found this...
Here
I know it is just more on that Project Rumble, but my god it sounds really good!
So the rumours of Maurer working are true...
Discuss...
P.s, sorry if it has already been done! |

I have to be honest.
Its looks and sounds like a good idea and I am pleased they are going for different types of coasters rather than another B & M. |

| Quote: | But the ride — which Universal officials had referred to for months by the code name "Project Rumble" — still draws principally on the basic thrills of a roller coaster: speed, height, loops, corkscrews, twists, turns and drops. Universal officials said Rockit would have several signature moves and a record-breaking loop, though they would not elaborate. The artist's rendering that they released shows the track climbing a 167-foot-tall peak, then corkscrewing downward, twisting eight times.
|
I assume this Maurer will feature eight inversions. If that's true, it would be the coaster with most inversions in the States and, according to the press release, the coaster will feature the tallest loop (I guess it will be a sort of Sky Loop).
I can't imagine a coaster that big fitting in the Studios although we thought the same about Hollywood Dream: The Ride and ended up being one of the best integrated coasters in a park and exceeded everyone's expectations.
BTW, knowing how low-capacity are Maurer coaster, I wonder how many cars are they going to run at the same time and thus, how long the track will be. |

Even if it had decent size trains, half the seats wouldn't be usable due to weight problems anyway. |

Since it's rumoured to be behind Blue Man Group, and possibly go to CityWalk, it may be reasonably long...
But they'll need to think of having about 3/4 MCBRs in order to make it have a decent throughput... |

I'd rather have a B&M hyper.
Still, this is kind of interesting and it will be interesting to see how it turns out. Screamscape claimed that one of the sources said that there won't be any inversions, and instead will have a lot of overbanked corners. Doesn't sound like anything to exciting right now, though, but I guess we'll see how it goes. |

| FINALLY, a real reason to go to Universal again. Islands of Adventure and the Studios have been rather boring lately. This will be a great thing to do in 2009. |

I just hope that Universal doesn't sprawl this coaster out to be just an eye pleaser with nothing left to actually ride.
Take Thunder Dolphin for example.
Great eye candy, yet the actual ride sucks. |

| ^ It's in Japan. It's not suppose to be eye pleasing. Its to fit in the space that it was give. There would more than likely be no ride there if it didn't go through and around buildings. |

I smell something familiar...
Oh yes, ...
As obviously a 16 year old from Indiana knows all about Japanese planning laws and Japanese park designs...
Ever heard of making it fit around the surrounding area? For example avoiding existing buildings and foliage?
We're detracting from the point, I can possibly see the route to CityWalk as very much a Hyper out-and-back route, maybe turning with an overbank... |

Wasn't there something on this before...? I could've sworn I mentioned this in that "Florida Big for 2009" topic and Mike T posted stuff there on the planning permission and things like that...perhaps a topic merger would be in order...?
Anyways, supposedly initial plans called for this to be a B&M Hyper along the lines of Hollywood Dream, but B&M stated they were too busy to get the ride open for 2009 (the planned opening year), which made sense given the SeaWorld Flyer, the supposed Hypers (KI, Mirabilandia), and numerous other rumored projects... |

Placing the station behind the Sharp Aquos Theater and having it go over to City Walk would mean that a good portion of this thing will be over water. Should be fun! And I really like the idea of an onboard sound system.
I'm guessing this will be kind of like Abismo but longer. |
