Thanet Mayor, speaking on BBC Radio Kent said he will fight for it to be rebuilt and english heritage could be involved, the fire is now down to embers and just steam and black smoke are rising from the widelhy loved attraction.
It is estimated that 1/3 or less has been damaged and about 1/5 has collapsed.

Jesus christ. Sounds like an insurance scam me thinks! Like Camden and Nemesis Inferno.
But hopefully the damage isn't too serious. |

Just come on ITV news, saw the flames it doesn't look good at all. I reckon this is the end of the Scenic railway. I'm sure it must have been planned as there doesn't appear to be nothing much around it that would have caused it to start. It's just what the planners of the local area wanted to happen.
Shame to see a classic burn away. |

BBC Southeast Today, have shown pictures which show about 50% "decimated" which includes the station end of the ride. The structure is safe from the bluebuilding towards the sea front, the rest is standing charcoal.
I cried watching it. I SNIFF MAJOR INSURANCE SCAM AND ARSEN ATTEMPT BY DEVELOPERS |

Not looking good at all... Which is a shame, because that was one piece of history I still haven't got round to riding, and it's survival chances are looking minimal at present. Similarly, I shall be thoroughly unimpressed if it does turn out to be deliberate, just to give the council chance to have more flats etc. Admittedly, the ride's been closed for some time, but it's still a matter of prioritising what's most important to keep around >:C |

I admit, I've never taken much interest in the whole history of it and in some respects I couldn't really care, but this story has genuninely shocked me.
Abosoultely gutted to hear such terrible news!
Don't know what you've lost until it's gone.
Hopefully this won't be the end of the Scenic Railway. |

Unfortunatly I think whoever edited this wikipedia may have something to do with it. They seem to find it pretty funny, and know who did it . I have taken a screenshot, so if it is edited out, I'll post that instead.[/url] |

Well looking at the pic here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/7335519.stm
It looks like it is damaged beyond repair. |
