Once infamously described by the Simpsons as an escape for our limp-wristed friends, Dolly Parton's world of country music and traditional Smokey Mountain entertainment has gradually won critical acclaim thanks the the recent investments in roller coasters such as 'Tennessee Tornado' and one of the best wooden coasters in the world, 'Thunderhead'.
There is no other theme park like it. Beautifully set out in the Smokey Mountains, everything has that perfect finished feel to it. Some may even say it's equal to Disney in terms of theme and attention to detail. You do feel as if you've taken to a world no longer with us...an era so cosy and safe. There are plenty of subtle jokes as well. The park wears it's heart on it's sleeve and it's tongue firmly in cheek.
Staff are really friendly at Dollywood, always immaculately presented and helpful. Staff are also "themed" to the ride. For example, in Mystery Mine, staff wear miner uniforms. Staff at Dollywood appear to be a lot more mature in age terms but this works perfectly with the surroundings. You don't feel rushed and staff carry out their tasks with a smile. A nice place to work as well as play!
Food is out of this world. Traditional, wholesome Southern USA food - loads of potatoes and fatty stuff with a generous helping of healthy options which proves how well Dollywood can be old fashioned in them but blend so well with today's modern world.
David Brent from the UK version of The Office once said; "'If you want the rainbow you gotta be willing to put up with the rain.' Dolly Parton said that. And people think she's just a pair of tits."
Don't be a tit, go to Dollywood!

It is the best small park. I don't need that many water rides, but it is a nice, clean, well-run park. (Like they all do, it needs more coasters and other thrill rides.) I give parks grades. Overall this one gets a B.
