Tutorial 4 - Batwing
| No Limits Tutoorial 4 - Batwing |
|
The batwing is another elements that looks tricky to make, but is in fact dead simple. Begin by making a flat 90 degree curve to either the right of left. Bank the corner by 180 degrees so that the exit is upside down.
Now we want to raise the end of the corner to create a half corkscrew. Also, make sure that there is a large gap for the base of the batwing below the entrance.
Now that we have a nice half corkscrew, view the elements from the front and build a half loop so that the exit is lower, and just past the entrance to the half corkscrew. Move the control points to produce a nice, smooth, pumpless half loop.
Now we have half the batwing, so to finish it off we must make an exact copy of the first half. To begin, view the element from the front and build a half loop going up, so that the top is at the same level as the other side. You may also need to select "rell roll" on the last vertex to ensure that the track is inverted at that point.
To finish the batwing, we need to add the exit, which is another half corkscrew. To do this, view the batwing from the top and place a 90 degree corner, making sure that the exit is next to the entrance of the element.
Finally, we must alter the vertical height of the exit. Move the final vertex so that it is inline with the entrance, and move the control points so that the exit matches the shape of the entrance.
