Thorpe Park is the theme park for die hard thrill seekers. Although there are a fair amount of family attractions, the emphasis is on quick thrills suited for those 1.4mtrs or above. The clientele is mainly teenage and adult thrill seekers. Be it drop towers, accelerator coasters, rapids, you'll find it at Thorpe Park.

Thorpe Park started life in 1979 on the site of a former gravel pit and was billed as a water themed park. Over the years, the park added many family attractions such as the rapids, log flume, a carousel, a farm, and (in today's terms) some tame coasters. The first decade and a half saw Thorpe Park make great use of the lakes surrounding the park with such rides as a viking row boat and bumper boats.

It wasn't until 2000 when the Wicked Witches Haunt (ghost train type ride) caught fire demolishing several buildings did the park start it's transformation into a thrill park. In came Detonator, the Magic Mill was removed and new themed areas started to appear.

When the ten-times-looping coaster, Colossus opened in 2002, this world record coaster put Thorpe Park hot the heels of Alton Towers as the UK's premier thrill park. Over the next few years, three more meaty and thrilling coasters were added and Thorpe Park brought some new ride concepts to the UK in the form of Rush and Slammer.

Thorpe Park is certainly worth a day out if you enjoy thrill rides, although families may be better suited to Chessington or Legoland. Despite being a few areas for youngsters, the atmosphere may not be the best for them, after all there are a lot of big rides which they will not be able to go on.

Halloween is worth checking out at Thorpe Park. They do a 12 hour opening day and add some scary mazes, enough to make grown men jump out of their skin!

Food at the park is typical theme park fare, with brands such as Burger King and KFC, although there are healthy alternatives if you can hunt them down. Staff are how you'd expect a large chain park to be - efficient, polite at point of contact and helpful.

in the end lol it didnt rain! gosh:pand all rides were open with 0 minutes lol it was so strange we rid stealth inferno
collosuss and others 10 times each lmao and stopped for lunch. it was such an awesome day but it was pretty cold but
still 0 minutes for top rides i the uk AWESOME! ... You should see Rush at the moment the whole rid has been detached
like the seats arent on the two poles it hangs from and some wires are cut and it just looks like rush wont be open for
ages it was quite a shock to see the ride was like dismantled!!

yep it is absolutly fantastic.. I am crazy bwt themeparks, bt the people who work here are incredibly rude. I went on
the new zodiac which arrived from drayton manor and the people were so rude. Its a shame because tha place is fantastic

OMG i have an obsession with this place and alton towers. I think that Thorpe Park and Alton towers both have amazing
rides and 1 thing one park has the other doesnt and 1 thing the other park doesnt have the other one does! If you murged
the two together, wow that would be the best thing ever!!

to be honest i only got into thrilling rides in the six weeks holidays when i was with my ex-boyfriend and i was showing
of to this lad that i liked so i went the rides with him and my ex-boyfriend and from than on i just loved thrilling
rides (and im 13 how bad is that lol) so now when i go to america, florida, orlando im going to go to busch gardens and go
on shikra thats a drop roller coaster a bit like oblivion at alton towers. and im gonna go on all the other trilling
rides at orlando lol.

I've been here twice, and the second time I definietly had more fun, considering that the first time I went I was four
or five, and the second time I was 12. I didn't get to go on many of the flat rides, because we didn't have enough time
due to the fact it was half-term and that I wasn't with thrillseekers. I managed to get my third cousin on the Stealth
with me which was soooo fun! I would've liked to go on more of the flat rides, though. We were going to go on the Zodiac
and Vortex except they were closed. But still, its a great park! I love it there!

i LOVE this park to bits, but ride availablity has been soooo poor this year, little tip for them.. on thier website,
instead of stating the rides that arent open, say which rides ARE open, it would probs save them allot of time.. lol :D

Stealth is excellent, and the other coasters and rides are enjoyable too. The queues were huge when I went though, me
and my friends only managed five rides within seven hours (it took us fifty minutes just to get INTO the park, the queue
for tickets was enormous...)

Thorpe Park What A Legend Of A Park Unfortunately Building On A 'Swamp' Has Its Down Sides Such As When Ever They Want
To Build A New Rollercoaster They Must Take Down Existing Rides E.G When Project Eagle Is Being Built They Are Taking
Down Logger Leap A Ride That Has At Some Point Been Enjoyed By All Of Us It May Be Simple But Its In My Opinion The
Greatest Ride There. Plus The Lake Next To It Is Part Owned By A Water Sports Company And They Wont Just Let Thorpe Park
Fill In All Of The Lake. Such Problems Bother Me About Me About The Future Of Thorpe Park And The Remaining Rides Of My
Childhood.

Noboby can deny that Tussaud's have made a big investment in Thorpe Park since the turn of the millennium, it is now a
more rapidly growing park than Alton Towers & the rides are equally as good even if the scenary is not as beautiful &
the area isn't as big. But I kinda prefer that cause you never have to walk gr8t distances to get to the next ride like
you do at AT!
