Grand National
Pleasure Beach Blackpool, Blackpool, Lancashire, UK.

The Big One | Grand National | Big Dipper | Rollercoaster | Revolution | Steeplechase
Valhalla | Bling | Infusion | Spin Doctor | Space Invader | Ice Blast
Avalanche | Wild Mouse | Zipper Dipper | Morgon's Circus Clown Coaster

One of the few remaining mobius wooden coasters on the planet. What's a mobius coaster? Well, it means that even though there are two tracks side by side, they are actually connected because the trains return to the opposite side of the track to which they started from. The Grand National is one of Blackpool Pleasure Beach's signature coasters, and one that is known world-wide.
The drops of the Grand National are named after jumps on the Aintree race course (where the Grand National is held! Cunning, eh?) and each train travels a staggering 12,000 miles a season..if they open it, that is!

Type: Wooden Coaster
Designer: Charles Paige
Manufacturer: PTC
Height: 62ft
Length: 3302ft
Speed: 40mph
Opened: 1935

A very, very rough ride and simply not designed for anyone over 6 feet tall. Ride today, have a hip replacement
tomorrow.

It isn't as rough as people say, no where near as rough as wildmouse which is next to it or Gwazi at Busch Gardens
Tampa. This ride broke down the first time I qued for this and the ride op just said "BROKEN! EVERYBODY GET OUT!" this
place is no Disneyland, however after we waited for it to open me and my sister got on the fron row and it was amazing.

Grand National is OK. If it had a bit of airtime and was more comfortable it would be better.

Nasha is the best !! Truly intense double first drop, pleanty of airtime and despite being rough still amounts to lots
of fun- especially when you are racing your mates!!!

My first trip to BPPB was a bit of a let down. Nash was open, but I just didn't see what was so great about it. It had
airtime, and a fun course, but something was missing. Last summer I found out what it was. Riding this coaster is 100
times more fun when ridden with full trains and when everybody is interacting between them. Excellent ride! Now I know
why it's a national treasure!

This is exactly what a coaster should be, rough'n'ready filled with airtime, and to top it off, a race against another
train. Excellent.

I found it boring, but the fact that it races, has at least some airtime and gets somewhat fun after the first half or
so.

I found it to be incredibly over-rated. It just diden't have that special thing for me and I just found it to be
incredibly meh. Some of the airtime is good but is few and far between to me.

Roughness? Pah! What's a Woodie without a few bump! Besides those cushioned seats make everything better. Like any self
respecting Woodie, Grand National's first drop is not the best. The airtime hills are consistently good, and the turns
pin you to the side of your seat at a good speed. The layout is tight, but the ride is long. It's fun to put your hands
up at the top of each hill, but you can your butt you'll be bringing them back down when you wiz just underneath parts
of the ride. P4P, this is easily the best coaster here. Overall, I'd say the Big One is just about as good 'cause of its
speed, and sheer size, but the Grand National has much more character and more bang for ya buck. A quality Woodie.

I'm probably going to feel guilty about rating this ride so lowly in the future, but what I thought of it from
yesterday, it really wasn't my type of ride. I'm not really an airtime-loving guy and to me the ride was a little bit
boring, if not disappointing from all the high ratings I've seen from other people.

Good ride but really needs some new restraints! the unreal amount of airtime causes it to nip me and the airtime ... OW

Old and insane. The racing is very nifty and the airtime is more than a load - it's insane! Ride this if you can.

Very rough, but you come to expect that from old woodies. The fact I wi most times I go on it helps, but it is great!
