PARK INFORMATION

Blackgang Chine is one of the oldest amusement parks in the UK. It opened in 1843 although the attractions didn't start to appear until the 1930s.

Situated on the southern tip of the Isle of Wight, Blackgang Chine is built on a cliff edge - most of which has fallen into the sea! Never fear though, the park has recently acquired planning permission to expand the park further into the island, meaning the park can continue for many, many years to come. Although being on a cliff edge offers excellent views and atmosphere, there are a few hills which makes pushchair pushing tiring.

Blackgang Chine is aimed at families with young children. Most of the attractions are playgrounds and walkthrus, but there is a roller coaster and a water slide for the big kids to enjoy.

Food at the park comes in the shape of a family restaurant and offers an acceptable range of food at reasonable prices.

Blackgang Chine is steeped in history and most of it is found within the differnt themed areas of the park. There are also plenty of educational attractions, such as a dinosaur walkthru and a RNLI exhibition.

During quiet times the park operates the ride during selected time slots. For example, when CoasterForce visited to comile this guide it was a Tuesday during term time and Cliffhanger was only open for a few hours in the afternoon. You also get a free visit within a week when you buy your entry ticket!

Sure theres not realy much rollercoaster (none when i went actually) but it just has the best charm of any themepark ive
ever been to in my life. Its more magical than disneyland, just without the amazing rides and shows...
