Apollo's Chariot
Busch Gardens Europe, Williamsburg, Virginia, USA

Griffon | Apollo's Chariot | Alpengeist | Big Bad WolfDarKastle | Lochness Monster

Apollo's Chariot is the first ride that can be seen as you drive to/by the park, as it runs right along the park's parking lot, parallel to the highway.  Apollo's Chariot is B&M's first Mega Coaster, and its out and back layout filled with airtime hills and an excellent helix provide for a fun, force-filled ride!

The theme of the ride is a based around Greco-Roman mythology, but more interestly, male model Fabio was struck by a bird on the coaster's media day!

Type: Megacoaster
Manufacturer:
Bolliger & Mabillard
Height: 170ft
Length: 4,882ft
Speed: 73mph

Opened: 1999

On that 2nd large picture, you can just feel the airtime without being on the ride. Looks awesome

It's an awesome ride. Nitro looks a bit better, but this one is the third best roller coaster at the park, behind
Alpengeist and Griffon.

Great B&M megacoaster, the open air seats add so much to the excitement. The only complaint is for the guys, the
bunny-hops at the end kill. guys, I think you know what I mean :-). The drop into the turn-around at the end gives you a
bit if a "Flying" sensation. I hope to return soon to experience "griffon." Wow, this park really was created by B&M
:-). The first time I was here was in 1987 when Big Bad Wolf and Loch Ness Monster were the only coasters, my how things
have changed, for the better :-).

How can people knock this ride? My first hyper, and it was fantastic. Great first drop with tons of floater, lots of
negative and positive Gs, and pacing that never lets up (even that last drop where the picture is taken is fantastic).

I really wasn't overly impressed with the ride. I mean, it was a solid ride and very good, but I'll spend my day on
Alpengeist. This was my first B&M mega so maybe I came in expecting more, but either way... It's still a good ride.

What's with the rating, jordan1471? You made Apollo's Chariot drop all the way from thirty-something to seventy. Do you
have an explanation? Though there really is no good reason for a rating like that...

I wanna give this ride a 10 as I feel it is too lowly rated on this site, but I feel the ride is closer to a 9.5 than a
10, so I'll give it a very solid 9. Fantastic airtime, great terrain, and overall just a very good ride. My favorite B&M
hyper, ahead of Nitro and RB.

I did not realize how much airtime this coaster had until I rode a second time 7 years after I read it the first time.
The restraints made it possible to actually think you were in the air. Amazing ride!!

Alright, cool. I'm really jealous now. Sorry, it just seemed unreal if you know what I mean. I just saw your name on
almost every coaster and I was just thinking some could be fake. I was just curious. You're REALLY lucky.

I have been on seventy-something coasters. But the reason I've been on all these is because of my family. I've got
cousins in NJ and Georgia. My mom's a doctor and we go on business trips along the east coast. I begged my parents to go
to CP. And on the way back from CP, we stopped by SFDL. Yes I've been on a lot, but seriously, what brought that up?

Ok, CK if you really have been on all of these rides I envy you greatly for your massive amounts of free-time. But I do
find it hard to believe someone has ridden all of those coasters. If I am mistaken I thoroughly apologize. And yea,
its 210.

My first megacoaster, and my third coaster ever. My trip to Busch Gardens seems so long ago, but I'm so glad it brought
me into the world of roller coasters. This was the best ride I went on. However, being very young I didn't go on the
Alpengiest.

There nothing wrong with the layout just like there is nothing wrong with having bad taste. My first coaster in 2000.
Brings back memories.

Fun ride. Typical out and back, but the air time makes up for the layout.

It is 170' tall but has a 210' foot drop. It's a terrain coaster.

I was sorta of disappointed with this ride, actually. Yes, it's still very good, but I expected the airtime to be a lot
stronger. Everything was a lot of fun the whole way through, but just didn't add up to an amazing coaster. The cutback
under the lifthill the brings the ride in line with the brakerun seemed to waste a good change for an airtime hill,
where the could've curved it at a much slighter angle. So it was good, just not good enough.

furious, fun and the pace never let's up. Love it!

I first went on Apollo's Chariot last year. It is in my top 3 best rides. The only two that are higher are Nitro and
Alpengeist. I need to go back to Busch Gardens.

Grace, your photos make me want to go back to BGW so much, it's almost a craving! Yeah, Apollo's Chariot is amazing
though, so much airtime.

This roller coaster was amazing. If I decided to break the roller coaster marathon record, this would be the chariot
that would take me.

Apollo's Chariot looks like an unbelieveable ride, with a lot of airtime, a good sized first hill, and speed and
intensity. Definately another reason why I want to go to BGW so badly!
